A water filtration system is only ever as good as the cartridges inside it. Cheap, off-brand cartridges might
fit physically, but they often have lower micron ratings, weaker carbon blocks, less surface area and

When should you replace your water filters?
Most New Zealand homes and businesses underestimate how often filters need changing. As a rule of
thumb: sediment cartridges every 6–9 months; carbon block cartridges every 6–12 months; RO
membranes every 2–3 years; UV lamps every 12 months even if they look fine; and softener resin or media
every 7–10 years depending on hardness load. On rural tank or bore water, expect to change pre-filters
more often — sometimes every 3 months — because of higher sediment and organic loads.

or smell, cloudy water, drop in RO permeate quality (rising TDS), or simply the calendar reminder ticking
